Most building codes state that flexible gas lines are not allowed inside the cabinet of a furnace. It should be hard piped from the gas valve in the unit to the exterior of the furnace cabinet. The purpose of this is that flex piping has the potential of "rubbing" against the cabinet wall and possibly causing damage to the line itself, causing a major safety hazard.
